Any ideas on novels that deal with the Olympics (winter preferably) or a
winter sport (training, participating, learning, etc) would be great. I am
finding a lot of kids books but not any adult - so any suggestions would be
most appreciated!!
Thanks in advance - and of course I'll compile a list if we get lots of
suggestions

A recent novel on the *original* Olympics (e.g. ancient Greece) is Tom
Holt's OLYMPIAD, but I believe this has been published only in the UK.
Two sf novels dealing with future olympics: STADIUM BEYOND THE STARS
by Milton Lesser and ACHILLES' CHOICE by Larry Niven and Steve Barnes.
Former is old and scarce; latter fairly recent and common.
None, alas, deal with *winter* Olympics...

We're preparing our Olympic Games display - of course we have history of the
Olympics, biographies of various participants, etc. I thought it would be
good to include some fiction - for those who may not choose to be glued to

Also, even though I don't believe the setting is Olympic, your patrons might
enjoy the movie "Cutting Edge," set in the ice skating millieu. I love the
movie - saw it twice in the theatre when it came out.
About.com has a figure skating "bookstore" which I discovered by going to
their site, then searching on ice skating (fiction). The search directed me
to the bookstore, which has no fiction, but many bios of champion skaters,
books on technique, etc. I suspect that similar searches (Skiing, speed
skating, etc.) on that or other sites might yield similar results.

Sacred Ice by Adam Joseph sounds different, here's the summary from Amazon:
A 1940's Oxford professor, and part-time intelligence operative, struggles
through London's chaotic streets in order to meet his operational
counterpart. A night of twists and turns ensues until a catastrophic climax.
After a temporal chapter change, an earth tremor rocks the opening
ceremonies of the Winter Olympics in Utah, causing an avalanche and
disrupting the games, a search for survivors uncovers a gruesome discovery.
