Hi all!

I have a patron who collects Golden Books, and would
like to know how to interpret the alphabetic codes
sometimes found below the CIP. Some examples
are 'TT' 'ABC' 'GHIJ' and 'NOPQRST'. Any ideas?

From: Collecting Little Golden Books by Steve Santl--
under "how to tell editions" on p. 9:
"2. Look on the last page of the book in the lower right hand corner by
the spine. There will be a letter and this letter tells the edition. For
example A=1st, Z=26th, AA=27.
3. On the bottom of one of the first two pages you will see something
like ABCDE or abcde. The first letter to the far left is the edition."

In Steve Santi's Collecting Little Golden Books, he has a section on
telling editions. Apparently in a b c d e, "the first letter to the far
left is the edition". On the last page of the book A would indicate 1st,
Z - 26th and AA - 27th.
