I have a patron searching for a children's book she read 20-30 years ago.
She can't remember anything about the story but thinks the title is
something like My Friend Irfan or My Afghan Friend Irfan (possibly
Irfanulla.) She remembers an illustration done in ink of a little boy with
skinny legs running around a building and up a flight of cobblestone steps.
Not much to go on, I know. But I figured that if anyone could answer this
question, it would be the wonderful collective mind on Fiction-L!Thanks,

I don't know anything about this book but the title and the fact that it is
a juvenile book in two languages. Irfan's present: Irfan ka tufah: a story
in English and Urdu by Parmjeet Sehmi and Amanda Welch. Published in 1982.
Good Luck!
