Hi Group,
I have a patron who is looking for a series he read a year or two
ago. The main character is a female hitman. Maybe takes place in NY or
NJ. In the second book, she does a job for a lawyer (kills the husband),
then they become partners. Any ideas???? Thanks in advance.

That sounds a lot like John Sandford's "Prey" (Lucas Davenport) series,
except that the hitwoman and the lawyer are characters that appear in
only two books in the series: Certain Prey and Mortal Prey; also, these
books prprimarilyake place in Minnesota. The hitwoman is Clara Rinker
and in CerCertainey she is hired by a lawyer and they become friends.
Davenport foils their plans and at the end of the book Rinker is
defeated, but not captured. In Mortal Prey, 3 books later, her
boyfriend is murdered by someone looking for her, and suddenly the FBI
has a lead on her again. They drag Davenport into the

There's a series of books by Evelyn Smith about a female contract killer:
Miss Melville Regrets
Miss Melville Returns
Miss Melville's Revenge
Miss Melville Rides a Tiger
They take place in New York City, but I don't know if the plots match what you're
looking for.
There is also a female assassin in two of John Sanford's Prey series about detective Lucas Davenport.
She is named Clara Rinker and the plot in Certain Prey (#10)
involves a hit ordered by a lawyer. She also appears in Mortal Prey (#13).
