I have been unable to track this one down using the usual sources.
Does this description from an on-line library customer strike any
bells?
Question: i have been searching for a book for 8 years and
have had no luck . all i know definitevely is that ,
1. it is a romance novel
2. the cover had a green background
3. it was published before 1996
4. it had over 600 pages
5. at the very beginning of the book the main heroine was running from
someone and hid in a crate which she inadvertenly got locked in and put
on a ship, where she was discovered and then tossed overboard in a
barrel, but then retrieved by the captain of the ship. i do know that
the main hero gave her "rich fabrics" in which to sew and one piece in
particular was an emerald green color. heroine also is seduced and
becomes pregnant but doesnt discover until they have landed.
the captain of the ship literally cleans out a broom closet on the ship
so that she has her own "quarters" and gives her a cot to sleep upon.
this is all i know for sure.
I have done internet searches using every word from above with no luck.
I also accessed barnes and nobles, borders and ebay doing similar
searches. I also started a search at kensington books website, but there
are literally thousands of books to search through with no way to narrow
my search beyond several thousand. i have posted this same question in
two romance readers forums, with no response. no one seems to know what
this book is. can you help me?
Thank you!

But if I had to hazard a guess, I'd agree with Tracy on this.

This sounds vaguely like one of the Kathleen Woodiwiss titles but I
haven't read them for at least 25 years. Possibly the Flame and the Flower?
