Hello,

Can anyone help me identify a story. I don't know the title or the
characters names or the authors. The patron says its about a normal kid
in a normal world set in the present. The kid lives with his father and
has special powers. The patron believes the child lives with his father
who is starting to see a woman with a female child and that they will soon
be threatened. The patron read it ten years ago or more.

The patron was most struck by the emotional content. The boy has to face
a powerful adversary. In the end of the story, the child recognizes there
is no way to fight the evil force and confronts it with 'love' and thus
defeats it by not fighting.

Any ideas?

It's been a very long time since I've read it, but could it be Prince
Ombra, by Roderick MacLeish? I think it was published in the early 80's.
I don't remember many details, but I remember I enjoyed the read.
