I have a patron looking for romances that feature an ex-con. I suggested Linda
Howard's "Mackenzie's Mountain" and LaVyrle Spencer's "Morning Glory." The
patron prefers contemporary, rather than historical romances.

Any further suggestions?

If there are enough titles I will compile for the list.

herself getting involved with her father's latest subject, a man convicted
of killing his wife and children. Did he or didn't he? A dark, intense read
- and one of my favorites by this author.

Karen Robards - One Summer - nice and steamy, too

Dinah McCall - Jackson Rule

Sandra Hill - Cajun Cowboy - humorous, too

Deborah Smith - Charming Grace - several well-drawn, quirky secondary
characters

Ruth Wind - Last Chance Ranch - ex-con is the female - abused wife who
killed husband; a virtual classic among series romances

These are ones I remember reading and enjoying, but it's probably the tip of
an iceberg...........

I haven't read any of these -- just going by descriptions. They seem to
be contemporary romances, many of them Harlequin types.

The web site ALL ABOUT ROMANCE (URL:
http://www.likesbooks.com/imprisoned.html#contemporary) has a thematic listing entitled "Imprisoned." The link above
is to the contemporary part of the list, but you can scroll up to access the
historical or other romance novels. To that list, I would add a book by Emilie
Richards: Fugitive (Silhouette), in which an Isolated mountain lady
rescues an injured escaped convict - who isn't all that he appears to be. Plot
twists keep the reader guessing almost up to the very end.
