Has anyone purchased books from the UK? How hard is it? It is expensive? Is there a particular jobber or bookstore you use?...I feel a little like Helen Hanff!

You don't need to purchase books from the UK to acquire most of her
works. I've used Alibris to purchase UK published books, and I expect
other used book dealers have them, too. I know Amazon has many in
their used book option. Good luck!
>A patron asked if we would purchase five Donna Leon mysteries that were not published in the US. Is anyone familiar with these titles and why they were not published here? The titles are:
>DEATH OF FAITH
>FATAL REMEDIES
>FRIENDS IN HIGH PLACES
>SEA OF TROUBLES
>WILFUL BEHAVIOR

I have used Amazon for the library purchases that I make because it is
easiest for our ordering process. For my own UK books that I can't get in
the US, I tend to use Indigo/Chapters (www.indigo.chapters.ca) (Since I
live in the Detroit area, I also can drive over to Windsor to make
purchases, but not everyone has this luxury.)

I have had good luck purchasing UK/Commonwealth published books online at
the Canadian arm of Amazon (amazon.ca). I think it is a bit cheaper to
get them from Canada rather than Great Britain (at least in the shipping).
