....my views are my own....
"We could, for example, have pointed out that Darwin's theory of
evolution explains how lower life forms can evolve into higher ones,
which in turn makes it entirely reasonable that a human should evolve
into an orangutan (while remaining a librarian since there is no higher
life form than a librarian)."

I just finished reading this book last month. I'm not sure what the appeal for your
patron is but if it is humor then....
I picked out the stories I liked and checked the authors for books. I started with John
Katz as I enjoyed his entry, and have read A Dog Year and The Dogs of Bedlam
Farm. (The 2nd title is a sequel so it makes more sense to read Dog Year first.) I
really enjoyed these 2 books as his maniac border collie is similar to my recent blue
heeler x and kelpie/blue heeler x antics/escapades.
I plan on trying some of the other authors later. And some of the authors I did not like
at all. So it's not just the "dog factor."
I also enjoyed The Dog Rules by William Thomas. A humorous look at the
person/dog relationship and who is really top dog in the pack.
I think what appeals to me is the humorous aspect of owning a difficult dog (and that
almost an oxymoron!).

Petulia liked animals, especially pigs, because they had wobbly noses.
Tiffany quite liked animals too, but no one except other animals liked
animals as much as Petulia.
