We have a patron who is looking for a novel written between approximately
1950-1970 by a male author from the southern U.S. He believes the word
Red was in the title. He thought the title was "Red power", but we can't
find that title anywhere.

Here is the description he gives:

He remembers it being similar to Truman Capote, but does not believe it is
by that author.

It is a seamy view of a small southern town and the corruption and racism
with alot of sexual undertones. One of the main characters was a young
black man who is a lothario-type who lives on the fringes of society (and
passes for white when he is not in this small town where he grew up).
Another main character is a young red-haired woman in an incestuous
relationship with her father.

The young black man has sex with a young white woman he meets on a bus and
he is set-up and arrested by the rich and powerful members of the town.
In the end the Lothario is accidentally killed by a young mentally
challenged young man.
