There's also this website:

Alexander Kent's (Douglas Reeman) Richard and Adam Bolitho series and Dudley
Pope's Nicholas Ramage series are, for my money, the closest to Aubrey &
Hornblower. I have only read one Thomas Kydd novel by Julian Stockwin , but
it covers the same time period. Dewey Lambdin's Alan Lewrie series also
follows a British naval career. I've also read, and would recommend, the
following:
Captain Kilburnie by William P. Mack
As far as I can tell, this is a stand-alone. All take place during the
Napoleonic Wars, as did Aubrey & Hornblower.
Let me also recommend:
The Hornblower companion : an atlas and personal commentary on the writing
of the Hornblower saga by C.S. Forester
The life and times of Horatio Hornblower by C. Northcote Parkinson (fiction)
Life in Nelson's Navy by Dudley Pope
Jack Aubrey commands: an historical companion to the naval world of Patrick
O'Brian by Brian Lavery (foreword by Peter Weir)
A sea of words : a lexicon and companion for Patrick O'Brian's seafaring
tales by Dean King with John B. Hattendorf and J. Worth Estes
With the exception of the Parkinson book, all of these are non-fiction and
give background to these specific books, or to books about this period in
British naval history.

Patron looking for series like O'Brian's Aubrey/Maturin and Forrester's
Hornblower. Any suggestions?
