Subject: Novels set in tsarist Russia
A patron came in today asking for novels especifically
set in tsarist Russia. I can find the classic Russian
novelists, but any ideas out there for contemporary
novels set in that period? I checked whichbook.net and
came up with the detective series by Boris Akunin, but
apart from that most of the others are set in
revolutionary or 2nd World War Russia.
Thanks in advance!

Also, Constance Heaven wrote HOUSE OF KURAGIN, ASTROV LEGACY, and HEIR
TO KURAGIN - another romance trilogy.
What is age of patron? The "novelizations" of E.M. Almedingen's
ancestors, KATIA, ELLEN, and FRANNY are good for middle school on up.

Also "Fleur" and "Emily." These three make up the Kirov Saga.
Sachem PL has a list that may be of use to you:

I don't think I've seen the series "The Russians" by Judith Pella mentioned. Starting
with Crown and the Crucible, it covers Russian history from the 1850s up to the
Russian Revolution.
