Petulia liked animals, especially pigs, because they had wobbly noses.
Tiffany quite liked animals too, but no one except other animals liked
animals as much as Petulia.

And there's our own Tulsa City-County Librarian, Will Thomas, of Broken
Arrow, OK, who wrote the mystery "Some Danger Involved--published in
hardback this past April, and with a new book coming out this spring. He
says he learned to do his research at the Library! We are really proud of
him, and Some Danger Involved is an excellent read--well-drawn characters
and lively wit, along with an unusual plot in Victorian England.

A couple more locals --
Hilary Moon Murphy, who has sold several sf/f stories, is or was a librarian at
Minneapolis Public.
http://www.sff.net/people/hmm/bio.html
My spouse, Terry Garey, is the author of THE JOY OF HOME WINEMAKING (Avon),
editor of three poetry anthologies, and has sold poetry to professional
markets and poetry and a few short stories to semi-professional markets:
http://www.joyofwine.net/
I'm assuming you're looking for authors of fiction and other related fields--
certainly lots of librarians have published nonfiction books (reference etc.).
If editing fiction counts, Fred Shapiro (a law librarian at Yale) is co-editor
of TRIAL AND ERROR: AN OXFORD ANTHOLOGY OF LEGAL STORIES.
