This book is scheduled for publication in June and the following information is the published announcement.
Christian Fiction covers more than 1,900 titles, organizing them according to reader interest. With emphasis on current publications, the broad scope of this work encompasses evangelical publications, classic Christian literature, even some iconoclastic literary works. Chapters based on subgenres and themes include: biblical fiction, historical, romance, fantasy and science fictions, westerns, mysteries and thrillers. There are also chapters on Catholic, Amish/Mennonite, Mormon, and Young Adult literature. Other features include a list of the ˇ§100 Best Christian Fiction Titles,ˇ¨ and sections on other reference resources and award, detailed annotations and bibliographic information on the titles included.

Developed for librarians in the field the book is intended to help librarians meet their patronsˇ¦ growing demand for Christian fiction by identifying the criteria for selecting quality Christian fiction; providing an annotated bibliography of core Christian fiction titles suitable for children, young adults and adults; providing general guidance to librarians in establishing and promoting Christian fiction collections. The book is divided into three parts. Part One provides background information, looks at the role of Christian fiction in the library, provides selection criteria for the genre, and discusses successful techniques used in promoting the collection. Part Two is comprised of an annotated bibliography of Core Collection recommendations for children, young adults and adults in three separate sections. Each of these three sections is divided by the various genres. The final chapter in Part Two provides a very basic collection of video titles which provide entertainmen
t, yet promote Christian values. Part Three is made up of three directories, a list of winners of the Gold Medallion Fiction awards; basic biographical and literary information about the major Christian fiction authors; a short directory of Christian fiction publishers.

Questions to consider when developing a collection
Is your collection going to be strictly ˇ§Christian fictionˇ¨ or include other religions as well? It has been suggested that if you are going to develop an inspirational genre section, be sure to define it as Christian (and then stick only to Christian fiction ) or more inclusive as inspirational to all religions (and then stick to all religions). The difficult part to including all religions is finding the books from all the religions. Here is a link to religion publishers. You may be able to find books of other religions through these links.
