I don't know if I have a specific title or not but it sounds like something
based on the Gilgamesh epic from ancient Mesopotamia. Gilgamesh was an
ancient king who met and became friends with a man he 'finds' in the
wilderness. The 'wild man' from the epic was called, I think,
Enkidu. Perhaps a search using either Gilgamesh or Enkidu would work(?)
There are two novels by Robert Silverberg which have Gilgamesh as a main
character: 'Gilgamesh the King' (1984) and 'To the Land of the Living'
(1990). Another more recent novel is 'Gilgamesh' (2000) by Stephen
Grundy. Could one of these be a possibility?

It sounds rather like the Epic of Gilgamesh, which definitely is *not*
recent! Try offering her a translation of the original myth.
