medical field. This detective rides a bicycle and has a female partner.

Could this be Robin Cook's Jack Stapleton and Laurie Montgomery? They are
pathologists in NYC, and he rides a bike to work. Two of the books they
appear in are Chromosome 6 and Contagion.
