This is a first posting for me. I am looking for a Sci-fiction book. The
only information I have on the author is that he was an
engineer-scientist type who wrote his first book that was a big success
then did not write another. This was circa 1986 while I was in a sci-fi
literature class at Kent Sate University. I believe the book was
published in the time frame 1975-1985. It may have won awards. The
words" Carion" (sp.) and "carrion keep" come to mind, but I may be way
off on that. Thanks!

Could you possibly be thinking of A Canticle for Leibowitz by Walter M.
Miller, Jr.? It was published in 1959, and he didn't write another
novel until the sequel, Saint Leibowitz and the Wild Horse Woman, was
published in 1997.
