Have your patron try FATHERLAND by Robert Harris, an interesting spin on
1964 Germany had there been a "truce" between Germany and the U.S. (with
Joseph Kennedy Sr. as president). Also, the novels of Alan Furst are set in
the more shadowy realms of WWII espionage - try his latest, KINGDOM OF
SHADOWS.

Did anyone mention Stones from the River by Ursula Hegi? I thought this portrayed very well how the German people could have "let it happen."
