I've tried everywhere that a new librarian can.

Can someone help me identify a fiction book about an alcoholic student
of Trinity college, American veteran, going to school on the GI bill,
married, cheats on her, mostly flunks out of school?

I read it many years ago and don't recall all the plot details, but The
Ginger Man by J. P. Donleavy is, according to the blurb on the back cover,
about "a whoring, boozing young wastrel" American studying at Trinity
College.
