Non-Fiction in Verse

I've a patron who recently read a book about Shackleton's Endurance that
was written in verse, based on persona poems, and included quotes from
individuals involved.
He's also read a book by Andrew Hudgins - AFTER THE LAST WAR - which he
said had the same "feel" to it.
He wants more - Any ideas?
I've been poking around various sites with minimal success looking for
non-fiction in verse or using persona poems as a basis, but I ain't got
much to show for it: NIXON AND I by Karen Kovacik; WHAT PLACE IS THIS
by Rosalind MacPhee; VOICES OF 1918 by Ellen Bryant Voigt; maybe
AMERICA, A HISTORY IN VERSE by Edward Sanders (2 vols); GAULEY MOUNTAIN:
A HISTORY IN VERSE by Louise McNeill.
Thanks bunches!!!!!!!!

Of course, epics like the Aeneid, Beowulf, etc., were once believed to be
nonfictional. They may or may not not be what your patron's looking for,
though.

As long as we're casting back to the classics, it might be worth mentioning
that various American poets of the "early federal" period, late 18th and
early 19th centuries, wrote long neo-epic poems in praise of George
Washington, the American Revolution, and the discovery and "founding" of
America. These wouldn't be the best sources of true historical knowledge,
but they're interesting period pieces and were likewise considered
nonfiction. See, for instance, Joel Barlow's "Columbiad" or the longer works
of Timothy Dwight.
