roman soldier frozen in time

Here's another stumper for you all:
Patron remembers reading a novel about ten years ago he thinks. All he
remembers (other than really enjoying it), is that a Roman soldier was
frozen in ice and he is discovered and thawed out in the twentieth
century. Any takers?
Thanks in advance,

It might also be THE FAR ARENA by Richard Sapir. Although the
iced Roman is a gladiator rather than a soldier.... BYE!

Too recent. The client said "about ten years ago" and the McMullen book
was published in 1998. My first thought was the same as Marla's: THE
FAR ARENA by Richard Sapir (who was also co-author of much of THE
DESTROYER paperback adventure series), and which seems to be one of
those books that people remember and ask about (it's been through
Stumpers a couple of times). THE FAR ARENA was published in 1978,
so it may be too early (but client could have read it years later, of
course, and paperback copies of it used to be pretty common in used
book stores).
There's also the CASCA, THE ETERNAL MERCENARY series by Barry Sadler,
another book (series, in this case) that people seem to remember and
ask about; Casca is a Roman soldier who lives through the ages down
to the present time, always fighting in various wars, but his longevity
does not involve being frozen and revived. Just noted for the record.
