The Beet Fields by Gary Paulsen

I just finished reading The Beet Fields, I would like to know if anyone has
had feed back from parents or the teens who have read the book. I would
put it on my shelf because I believe teenage boys would read it. I can
also see where parents would have a problem with the book. Thanks for your
help.

I too would be interested in hearing what, if anything, patrons said about The Beet Fields. I thought it was a terrific book, but when I finished I thought to myself that I would only recommend this to older teens because of the content. Unfortunate, because Paulsen's language is so accessible. This might be a good book for Deborah's new adult readers (guess I'd better post it under that subject).

Yes, we did. It's very well written. I really liked the book. It is
definetely a older ya book. There is sex in the book and he has to leave
home because of his mother's attempts to seduce him. I was also curious
why someone earlier questioned the title. He does work in the beet fields
after he runs away from home.
