The Adult Reading Round Table (based in the Chicago area) is hostessing a
LEADERS BOOK DISCUSSION ROUND-UP on Wednesday, May 23 from 2 - 4:30 p.m. at
the St. Charles Public Library, 1 South 6th Avenue, St. Charles, IL. The
program is open to all and there is no charge.
The entire afternoon (led by Ted Balcom, author of BOOK DISCUSSIONS FOR
ADULTS: A LEADER'S GUIDE) will be spent talking about "discussable books"
and actually participating in a book discussion that can help you hone your
leadership skills and discover useful techniques. HOUSE OF SAND AND FOG by
Andre Dubus III will be discussed first. Observe how others lead the group,
phrase questions and handle the group dynamics. After a break with
refreshments, there will be time to discuss which books work...and which
ones don't! Discover titles for your upcoming programs and share your
successes and horrors with others.
Assignment: 1. Read HOUSE OF SAND AND FOG prior to the meeting and bring
it with you. 2. Bring 50 copies of your most recent flier listing the book
discussion titles or develop a list and bring 50 copies of it to the
meeting. 3. Bring a copy of original questions that can be posted on
ARRT's website.
