Hope someone out there can answer this burning question for us. As patrons
are asking for the new Jan Karon book, we have noticed two different
pronunciations of her last name. With the accent on the first syllable, or
with a long "O" and the accent on the second syllable. Does anyone know for
sure which is correct?

I've always just pronounced it with the first syllable emphasised, exactly
like the name "Karen".

Of course, I have no way of knowing if this is how SHE pronounces it!

I heard her speak here in Lynchburg a couple of weeks
ago. Accent is on the first syllable - sounds almost
like "Karen."

Thanks for the reply. That pronunciation is the one we have been using, and
now we can speak with authority.
