Political fiction stumper
|
FROM: "Smith, Jeff" <[removed]@marshall.usc.edu>
REC'D: 4/1/01, 3:04 PM
---> It's a work of popular fiction, published sometime around 1970 or soon
thereafter, in which a (or the) main character is president of the U.S. This
fictional president is young, charismatic and "Kennedyesque" in terms of his
relationships with women, and -- unless I'm confusing two different books --
he originally came to national attention as president of the University of
California in the era of campus protests. The novel sold in chain bookstores
and may have been a minor bestseller, but I'm not sure.
I've checked the already compiled "Political Fiction" lists, by the way, but
without plot summaries I can't tell if this book might already be on one of
them -- at least, I don't recognize it from any of the titles.
Thanks for any help.
