We're looking for fiction that includes the Japanese attack on Pearl Harbor
as a major plot component. So far Herman Wouk is the only idea that comes
to mind. Suggestions, anyone?

I'm not entirely sure if this meets your criteria (as in it being a major
plot component) but From Here to Eternity by James Jones comes to mind.

Didn't James Jones treat this in his first (the title of which escapes me)?

Wasn't his first From Here to Eternity? Didn't he also do The Thin Red Line?
I don't think he was all that prolific.
