We have a patron who is looking for a book that she read last year. She thinks that it is part of a trilogy or series. It takes place on an island pre-World War (I or II) and involves a man and his daughter (the mother is dead.) The father falls in love with a school teacher who gets pregnant, but leaves the island when he won't commit to her. She comes back when the war starts. By the end of the book the daughter is married to a soldier going off to war. The author possibly is English and has a last name starting A - D. Any ideas? Thanks.
