A patron is trying to locate a book she read some time in the past year. All
she remembers about the book is the basic plot, but perhaps you will recognize
it? It sounds like a romance...

The plot involves a woman who goes "out West"--on vacation or some such thing.
She meets and marries the son of a rich man (a rancher?). Her husband (the
son) dies in a snow storm (or avalanche?). The woman then proceeds to fall in
love with the father. The father's name is "Red."

Any guesses?

It really does sound like a romance, (and
no, I don't have the answer), but if you come up
blank here, you might consider posting the
question with Romance Readers Anonymous. I think
it'll be your best shot. You can find out about
subscribing at http://www.toad.net/~dolma/.
This brings up the topic of subscribing to
multiple listservs. I belong to several, but I
find many librarians are naturally reluctant to
overload their mailboxes. One nice solution I
have found is to set up a separate email account
just for my listservs. Yahoo! mail (and many
other free providers, I'm sure) allows me to
pre-sort various listservs into folders that are
very easy to manage and delete.
