enhance a reader's advisory service. or, are they

When you participate in an adult reading group/book discussion, you are
entering into the very heart of reader's advisory i.e. talking about books.
Many times the discussions themselves make connections between the book
discussed and others, or other authors or characters who are similar. After
having participated in and/or led a book discussion, that book is yours for
your very own stock of "here is another good book" kind of moments.
