I hope this request is not too vague. Male customer needs suggestions for
his 13-yr-old daughter whose mother is divorced 2 or 3 times. Each time, the
daughter is brought into the "new" family, and then it goes away. She won't
talk about it, but he knows it must bother her to some extent. He's looking
more for books to help the daughter understand her mother, recognize the
fact she has good AND bad points. Fiction or non-fiction suggestions would
be helpful.

A couple of titles dealing with the loss of a mother would be "The Turnabout
Shop" by Rodowsky (girl goes to live with a college friend of her mother
after mom's death) and "Because of Winn-Dixie" by DiCamillo, a delightful
and gentle story of friendship. India Opal Buloni's mother has left her to
her preacher father, who has brought her to a small town in Florida where
she meets a lovable mutt in a supermarket and grapples with her mother's
abandonment and her own loneliness.
These are not about divorce, but do touch on themes of broken relationships
and feelings of abandonment.
