OK, now the Crouching Tiger, Hidden Dragon "fever" has hit Great
Falls. People want to read the book(s). Checking Amazon.com, I
could only find a citation that the movie is based on a 5 volume set
by Wang Du Lu. Trying the author's name on the internet brings up
too many references, mostly to the movie.

Does anyone have any idea what the books are? If they're
available in the USA? I imagine someone will come up with a
paperback mass media screenplay soon; that might satisfy
people's need to read the book.

For those who can get enough of CTHD,
I just happen to have in my hands an issue of Entertainment Weekly that
mentions a "shooting script" version of the movie: CTHD : A Portrait of
the Ang Lee Film.

EW gives the text a B-minus grade, but true buffs may find a reason to
like it anyway.

The script versions of Gladiator, Erin Brockovich, Traffic and Almost
Famous are also rated.

In a search of periodicals, I could learn only that in the early 20th
century Wang Du Lu published a five volume set. Crouching Tiger Hidden
Dragon is the title of the fourth volume, and the basis for the movie.

The LC catalog has only books in Chinese by Wang, Dulu. Amazon has
only books about the movie, as you saw. The Chinese novels will most
likely be translated into English, of course, but after a time lag!
