Hello all. I am looking for a book that a patron read when she was younger.
It was about a boy detective and he was tutored/guided by a
sorcerer/magician type. She read it in the 80s but thinks taht it may have
been written in the 70s. Any ideas? Thanks

Sounds a little like the Danny Dunn series. Danny is befriended by a "mad
scientist" - type. ???
