I have an adult patron looking for novels involving animals (not farm
animals, dogs or cats). White Puma and White Seal are examples of novels
she has enjoyed. Any ideas?

THE BEAR (originally titled THE GRIZZLY KING) by James
Curwood. Basis for popular movie quite a few years back.
WATERSHIP DOWN by R. Adams. Everyone probably has read
this rabbit classic -- "You're getting to be a rabbit with me" (-;
DUNCTON WOOD by Wm. Horwood. Similiar to the above only
alittle darker (no pun intended) about moles.
THE LOOP by Nicholas Evans. I hear this is good, but can't quite
bring myself to read it -- I hate to read about animals getting hurt.

"The Wolfling," by Sterling North, springs to mind, also his "Rascal." If
wild animals are wanted: Helen Hoover, Sir Charles G. D. Roberts.

Mind of a Raven if birds fit the bill and Red-tails in love about hawks. Both titles are
non-fiction however.

Second that, definitely. The first two, "The Overloaded Ark" and "The Bafut
Beagles," contain some of the funniest prose I have yet to read. "My Family
and Other Animals" is about his boyhood on Corfu, in which he Discovered his
Vocation; there are two or three other volumes set at the same period.
Anyone who loves animals should enjoy these.
