Hi,
Our library recently received a grant to establish a core collection of
books -fiction and non-fiction - written in Spanish. I have been given the
project of selecting books for consideration....anyone know where I can
find sources of reviews? I don't speak Spanish so the reviews would need
to be in English. I feel lost!!!

To the person who requested help in selecting Spanish-language materials;
I just read this advertisement in the 2/5/01 issue of Publishers Weekly.
"Criticas is published in English, it is an English Speaker's guide to the
latest Spanish language titles. A one-stop source for reviews of new
adult and children's titles from the International Spanish-language
publishing world. It will appear as a quarterly supplement to Publishers
Weekly, Library Journal and School Library Journal. It will also provide
information on Spanish-language distributors, interviews with major
Spanish-language authors, profiles of Spanish-language imprints, and news
of best selling titles. Criticas reviewers are bilingual librarians who
are knowledgeable about the materials of greatest use and interest for
Spanish speakers in the United States." Begins with the March 12 issue of
PW.

A great source for the books themselves is Lectorum...they're under the
Scholastic
umbrella.
