For my weekly newspaper column for next week, I am writing about the appeal
of the romance novel, library resources for romance readers, etc. I was
thinking it would be fun to also include a list of novels which use romance
writers as characters, for that behind-the-scenes look. All I can think of
is Elizabeth Peters' marvelous Jacqueline Kirby, but I know there are
others. Binnie? Anyone? I will post if you all can come up with more than
one or two. Thanks -- and Happy Valentine's Day!

Mary,
If you are including films, there is Spanish director Pedro Almodovar"s
wonderful "Flower of My Secret." Here's the description:
Leo writes romance novels--but with a loveless marriage,
she finds herself fresh out of inspiration. Angel is a
tough and gruff journalist with an iron will and a heart
of gold. When their paths happen to cross, they discover
something neither had expected--a real-life love affair!
In Spanish with English subtitles.
I believe the florid movie title is also the title of her latest book.

One of the Temple Barr mysteries by Carole Nelson Douglas takes place at a
Romance Writer's convention. I can't remember which one, but her landlady
is a Romance Writer wannabe.
