This is not fiction(?) but I have a customer who read a book about
reincarnation theory in 1983, although the book was "much older--maybe even
1800's" She thought the author's name may have been Stone or Brown. (Not
Edgar Cayce.) The only other thing she remembers is that the book was black
and about "this big" (1 1/2").
I know this isn't much to go on and is outside the scope of our list, but
any help is appreciated.

Okay, this is a REAL longshot, but knowing how people's minds work, how about

Jess Stearn (similar to Stone) The Search for the Girl with the Blue Eyes (similar to
brown?) 1968.
