I think it might be Tales from Rhapsody Home by John Gould. It's a
humorous insider's look from a nursing home in Maine. Published in 2000.

I just came across a book on our "new" shelf which might be of interest to this patron, even though it may not be the specific one she heard mentioned on the radio, since the author is a woman. She has, however, worked in the mental health and hospice care field, so she is an insider of sorts. The title is: "But this is my mother! : the plight of our elders in American nursing homes", by Cynthia Loucks, published in 2000.
