I have a patron who wants to read more authors like Nicholas Sparks. I
can't think of any other short books with the same sentimentality. Help
please.

If short is a key element, not just the sentimentality, then I would
recommend Richard Paul Evans, Robert James Waller, Cathleen Schine, and
Susan Wilson. If medium length (200-300 pages) is acceptable, you could add
Carrie Brown, Douglas Hobbie, K.C. McKinnon, Connie May Fowler, Catherine
Hyde Ryan, E.L. Swann, and Niall Williams to the list.

I'll agree with Richard Paul Evans and Robert James Waller. I would
include Emily Grayson who wrote The Gazebo and The Observatory. However,
I strongly disagree with Cathleen Schine and Niall Williams. I like
their works, but they are not read alikes for Nicholas Sparks.
