A teen patron just requested a movie she used to watch about 5 years ago
- a Japanese anime (?) cartoon, where two kids and their dad move to
Japan (?); the youngest child finds a huge blue creature, and there was a
flying bus that looked like a cat. She thinks "My Friend" was part of
the title. Any ideas? Thanks in advance!

The name of the movie is "My Neighbor Totoro." It was released in the U.S. a
few years ago by Fox Video, but I think it's "out of print" now.
Another movie by the same company, Studio Chibi, was called "Kiki's Delivery
Service." This was released in the U.S. a couple years after "Totoro" by
Buena Vista Home Video. It is still sold at a few video stores around the
country, but I'm not sure if Buena Vista is still producing the movie.

The English name for this film is _My Neighbor Totoro_. The Japanese title
is _Tonari No Totoro_. The creator is Hayao Miyazaki. I can also recommend
his _Nausicaa of the Valley of Wind_ for all ages viewers. (I believe in
America the title was changed to _Warriors of the Wind_.)

Actually ... Let me amend this statement.

I can recommend the manga (comic) for all-ages viewers. It has been a while
since I've seen the anime. Still, the Nausicaa anime isn't bloody at all
(minor cuts in swordfights, etc.), and tends not to deal with sexual themes.
