Hello all --

Our community will be preparing for an annual literary event called "If All
of Rochester Read the Same Book..." sponsored by a local writers'
organization. The book *we* will all be reading is A LESSON BEFORE DYING.
Our division at the Central library will be preparing booklists and displays
for the event.

I am asking for suggestions of Gaines readalikes. Also, since I have not
read the book (yet!), I would like suggestions for book titles which may
have a similar theme or which may be appealing to someone who read and
enjoyed A LESSON BEFORE DYING.

Any ideas are greatly appreciated! Thanks.
