I've been asked to recommend an audio book that is either literary fiction,
preferably short stories, or poetry for a woman in her 80s. It is to be a
gift and the requestor does not know what titles or authors she liked when
her vision allowed her to read. The person the audio book is for is "very
intelligent with an inquisitive mind."
It's not much to go on but I know there will be some great suggestions from

A friend loved Barbara Kingsolver's HOMELAND AND OTHER STORIES, or perhaps
Kingsolver's essays, HIGH TIDE IN TUCSON.

Hi-
Do you think she might like AS Byatt's short stories?:
Djinn and the nightingale
Matisse stories
Her work is definitely in the "literary fiction" category. These collections
have both been done by Recorded Books.
