As a newcomer to RA, I was wondering if patrons who are avid readers of Mary
Higgins Clark ever ask for books written by her daughter, Carol, when they've
run out of selections written by mom.
Thanks for any insight you can offer.

Carol Higgins Clark's books are more traditional
mysteries than mom Mary's books, which I call light
romantic suspense. Carol's are tagged as mysteries in
our collection, Mary's are not. I have not read Mary
*Jane* Clark's books (I think she is related too, not
sure how), but they look closer to Mary H. C.'s
style.

Readalikes for Mary Higgins Clark would include
Barbara Michaels, Phyllis Whitney, Victoria
Holt/Philippa Carr as well as (if the suspense is what
they are looking for) Nora Roberts, Catherine Coulter,
Elizabeth Adler, and earlier Sandra Brown romantic
suspense titles (More recent titles like THE ALIBI &
THE SWITCH have drifted away from the romantic
suspense flavor of FRENCH SILK and WHERE THERE'S
SMOKE). There are many more great writers of romantic
suspense-- I'll let the list take it from here!

No they are not and I would not recommend Mary Jane Clark either for
someone looking for Mary Higgins Clark read alikes. My favorite MHC
read-a-like is Joy Fielding.
