I had a call from a patron who is looking for a book she read a while ago
about a man who was being held prisoner in Siberia. She thinks in some sort
of prison. Maybe during WWII, maybe a POW but she was vary vague on those
details so I don't know if you want to use those for searching. Anyway the
upshot of this story is the guy escapes and makes his way over the natural
land bridge. She says it is a fiction book.

Any thoughts?

Another possibility for the book youare seeking is Kolymsky Heights by
Lionel Davidson in which A former Rhodes scholar, part Inuit, Johnny
Porter, sneaks into a secret Siberian research facility and eventually
escapes over land/ice to Alaska. This is a very fast-paced technothriller
type of book.

It ended up being the "Last of the Breed" by Louis Lamour. My patron was
thrilled and is coming in to pick up the book today. She told me I was
great. I accepted on behalf of you all.
