This weekend I had a man describe the following book. When my colleague and
I drew a blank she said " Oh but Jeanne will put it on her listserv of
experts and we'll call you next week with the answer." What a rep we've got!

Here goes:

Book is a humorous novel about a college professor of English who is
challenged by his friend, a rich publisher of pornography, to write book.
The professor takes him up on this and writes a "dirty book" book and it is
published under a pseudonym of course, to protect the professor's rep. Well
it becomes a huge bestseller and everyone wants to know who the author
really is. The story centers around this guy trying to hide his identity in
the midst of this fame and fortune.

I read this one. It's called "The Man Who Wrote the Book" by Erik
Tarloff.

Yes it was. Thank you. We went through all that because the patron wanted to
read another book by that author but of course didn't know name of author or
title just description of the story. The other book by Tarloff is Face-off.
