For those who may be interested--

I don't believe anyone has pointed out that the LOCUS website has an
"almost final" recommended books of 2000 series of lists (sf novel,
fantasy novel, collections, anthologies, etc.) described as

"A composite Recommended Reading list, comprising recommendations from
various Locus reviewers and other contributors, is in work; a preliminary
version is posted here; the final list will appear in the February 2001
issue of Locus Magazine."

As usual, I've read so tiny a fraction of these that I can't vouch for
them--except to say that I'd trust the opinons of LOCUS reviewers far
more than those of various mainstream media. FWIW--
