I read "I Never Promised You a Rose Garden" by Hannah Green, at a young
age. It was fascinating but made me feel like "I" was right there with her!

What about Sybil, by Flora Rheta Schreiber?
There's also a novel by Frank G. Slaughter called Daybreak.

Could anyone suggest a non-fiction book that would be of interest to an
18-year-old boy to help him understand schizophrenia (paranoid)?
Thanks!

Simon, Clea. Mad house: growing up in the shadow of mentally ill sibilings. Doubleday, 1997
Alexander, Ken Understanding and coping with schizophrenia: 14 principles for the relative. Scwartz & Wilkinson, 1991
Hoffer, Abram How to live with schizophrenia Carol Pub, 1992
North, Carol Welcome, silence: my triumph over schizophrenia. Avon Books, 1989. [Very popular in my library].
I'm just processing Angel-head ; my brother's descent into madness by Greg Bottoms. This book is scary - it doesn't have a happy ending. The doctors don't find the meds that will control the symthoms of the disease. But it is a powerful story.
Let me know if I can be of further help.
