A patron is looking for a book with these pertinent characteristics:

1. About a Jewish family who are in hiding during the Holocaust.
2. It is a fiction / chapter book.
3. There are two sisters who hid out with a puppetmaker.who is a gentile.
4. It takes place in the Netherlands or France.
After the war the sisters stay with the puppetmaker and give puppet shows.
5. The book was published in 1999 or 2000.

Thanks for any help you can provide. (Our searches proved futile).

Could it be THE KEY IS LOST by Ida Vos? The English
translation has a c2000.
