>One of our readers wants to identify a series of aobut 6 books dealing with a Church of England (possibly) minister which follows his life from ordination on. She thinks he finds romance in the second book. No idea, of course, of the author, or any of the titles.

As others have pointed out, this may well be the Starbridge
series by Susan Howatch. It actually deals with several Church of
England clergymen, but the main one (he narrates the first and
sixth books) is called Charles Ashworth. Doesn't quite start with
his ordination; but he's 37 when the series opens, and in his
mid-60s by the end. He "finds romance" in the first book, and
again in the sixth. Hope this helps!
