One of the most rewarding benefits of subscribing to Fiction_L is finding a
really great book: one that you can recommend to a patron, or read yourself!
I would love to see even more recommendations on individual books over the
course of the year. I have really wowed some patrons thanks to all of you.
In lieu of blathering on, let me say the point of this e-mail is to
recommend - Eye of the Storm: A Civil War Odyssey, by Robert Knox Sneden,
Free Press, 2000. It is an awesome book, beautifully presented. The book
was produced from the memoirs & drawings of Sneden, a Union soldier. I
strongly encourage you to recommend it to any Civil War books.
(There frequently seems to be some hesitation or apologizing on the list
when nonfiction titles are mentioned. I am of the camp that feels that RA
should not be limited to fiction - even though I am a fiction reader for the
most part.)
Happy New Year to All,

My most heartfelt thanks for the recommendation, from the daughter of a man
who is very much into reading about the Civil War. The Sneden title will
be perfect as a recommendation for him(!) And I agree with you that
Readers Advisory should not be limited to fiction. Thank you again.
