Somewhat off topic, but I need some quick first-hand information.
Are any of you working in libraries or in systems with branches which
shelve the nonfiction by topic or category rather than Dewey number? In
other words, using bookstore organization to arrange all or part of the
nonfiction collection. I think some of the Baltimore County branches
did this at one time. We're doing strategic planning with an eye toward
an expanded building, and this question of arrangment has come up. I'd
like to know what the reasoning was behind the decision and how it has
worked out. Please reply to me directly off list
